The Giant of Horcum

System: Liminal
GM: Paul Mitchener

The Hole of Horcum, on the North York moors, is a vast hollow half a mile across. In folklore, it is said that a giant called Wade created the hole when he scooped up a vast fist full of earth to hurl at his wife during an argument.

In the world of Liminal, there is truth in folklore, and a giant was recently spotted in the area. Meanwhile, a local village has fallen victim to a mysterious malady. The player characters must of course investigate.

This game of Liminal, a game of British Folklore, is being run by one of our Special Guests, the game’s author Paul Mitchener.

A Touch of the Sun

System: Beyond Dread Portals
GM: Newt Newport
Adventure by Paul Mitchener

Day: Sunday 12th April
Time: 1-5pm.

You joined the Ysian Explorer’s Guild to pursue a life of adventure, to get away from the drab and desolate streets of the City of Ys. Which every day is getting colder and greyer under the boney fist of the undead Autarch.

So now a job that offers just that. The Emerald Order have a job to investigate a magical doorway that leads to a tropical paradise. So easy peasy just a quick exploration job, go through the portal and write a quick review for the Emerald Order when you get back from your little holiday. Shame the portal is in an abandoned house that’s gained a reputation of being haunted.

Beyond Dread Portals is a fantasy D20 game of exploration and wonder, using a straightforward system derived from D&D with some narrative elements. We are calling it post-D&D. The characters are 3rd Level, and are capable and sometimes flamboyant explorers, in the multi-planar worlds of the Empire of YS.

The Bishop’s Treasure

System: Wolf’s Head (Fate)
GM: Paul Mitchener
Day: Sunday 29th March.
Feudal England is a cruel and unfair place. The commoners labour all their lives for the benefit of knights and lords to feast and fight. Most commoners aren’t even allowed to leave the land allotted to them. When there is a foreign war, another punitive tax comes along, and whole villages are burned for not paying. And for the most part, the people duck their heads, take cover, and hope it doesn’t happen to them.
But not you. You’ve had enough, and snapped, defying the local lord. You’re now a criminal—a wolf’s head—in the name of the law, and labelled a bandit or worse. An outlaw, driven to the fringes, forever on the run.
On the run… but not alone. There are others who think like you, and together you’re more than just bandits. You’re rebels, fighting for the common people, doing what you can to help them while spitting in the eyes of the nobility.

Beneath the Stones

System: Liminal
GM: Paul Mitchener
Near Hadrian’s Wall are the Mare and Foal Standing Stones- just two stones remaining of an ancient stone ring. Alas, property developers have moved in after a wave of protests, but they have given permission to a group of archaeologists before they begin construction work. But why were the protestors receiving money from the Jaeger family, the werewolf “royalty” of the country? And why is a known magician of the Council of Merlin part of the excavation team? And why are the locals now all having nightmares?
Time for a Crew of Liminals to get involved.
Liminal is a game about those on the boundary between the modern day United Kingdom and the Hidden World- the world of secret societies of magicians,
a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin.
